Storm Coming

Our Old-time Band

Welcome to our historic home

Our historic mountain farmhouse is located in the Jefferson National Forest about 45 minutes drive from Roanoke, Virginia. After four years of restoration, it became a comfortable vacation rental farmhouse for ten years with loads of country living activities like fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, canoeing, creek tubing, swimming, listening to mountain music, and just plain relaxing.

Beth Fulton sums up those ten years as she tells of her family's visit with a lovely video and song.

The Surber homeplace is now a peaceful mountain writing and editing retreat for Jack and Carol Lewis. Carol is a professional copyeditor and children's author, and Jack is an author of technical books and ebooks, and now a historical novel, Storm Coming, published in 2017. Click the book cover at left for more information about their work.
